From Oct, 22 to 24, Ya Wei Cup “The 3rd National Secretary & StenoVocational Skill Competition & China’s Qualifying Competition to Budapest,Hungary” was held in Shanghai Industry & Commerce Foreign Language College.This competition was co-sponsored by the Council of Secretary of National Committee of Vocational Skill Appraisal by Experts of Ministry of National Human Resource & Social Security, Secretary & Public Relations Profession Research Society of Educational Commission of China Technical & Vocational Education Society and Steno Council of China Chinese Information Society . It was co-hosted by Shanghai Industry & Commerce Foreign Language College,Beijing Steno Society, Beijing Steno Scientific and Technology Co. Ltd and Beijing Zhonghong Network Education Technology Co. Ltd.
This competition is held once every two years and it is the second time for SICFL to host this event ever since 2012. The competition was generously supported by Chinese Secretary Association, 《Secretary》and Beijing Chaoxing Er Ya Education Technology Co. Ltd. During the competition, over 60 officials from 20-odd countries headed by Honorary Chairman Mr. … and 16 distinguished guests from Republic of Korea who were led by the Head of Sino-Korean Steno Communication Society came inperson and observed the competition.
This qualifying competition drew more than 300 participants from over 50 institutions of higher learning throughout the country, who were competing 92 “First Prize”, 8 “The Most Outstanding Groups” and 15 “Excellent Groups”. Those who succeeded in this qualifying competition would be entitled to the qualification to take part in the 50th International Steno Competition held by International Steno Association, which would be held in Budapest, Hungary in 2015.
The opening ceremony, which was chaired by Mr. Huang Pin, Vice President of SICFL,was held in front of the College library. Present at the Opening Ceremony were Ms Zhang Lingli, Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Secretary of National Committee of Vocational Skill Appraisal by Experts of Ministry of National Human Resource & Social Security, Mr. Yue Weihua, Director of Secretary & Public Relations Profession Research Society of Educational Commission of China Technical & Vocational Education Society, Mr. Li Bingwei, the secretary general of Shanghai Vocational Educational Society, Mr.Tang Ke, the Managing Director of China Chinese Information Society and President of Ya Wei Steno Training, President Zhu Yixing, Vice President Pan Jiajun, Mr. Chen Xiaoming, Dean of Department of Department of Literary Study & Legal Affairsand other professors and experts. Research fellow, Vice President Pan Jiajun delivered the opening speech and President Professor Zhu Yixing declared the commencement of the competition.
“2014 High-Level Symposium on Cultivating Secretary & Steno Talents for the Country” was concurrently held in SICFL. The participants at the symposium heldin-depth discussion on the issue of teaching modules of secretary and stenotraining as well as the development of the faculty in this regard. During the competition, a large group of overseas friends, accompanied by President ZhuYixing, Vice President Zhu Shichang and Mr. Chen Xiaoming, Dean of the Department, observed various sites of the competition, toured round the campusand visited “Fu Lei’s Life Gallery” and “Sino-KoreanCulture & Communication Historical Gallery”.
The event was successfully concluded through the fierce competition, and Madame Xia Lingyin, Secretary of Party Committee of SICFL made concluding remarks at the Awarding Ceremony and the distinguished guests all extended their heartfelt congratulations on the tertiary schools and individual students who won the prizes. Zhang Tin from Liaoning Vocational College of Politics & Law wonthe first place with a steno speed of 750 Chinese characters per minute, which set a new world record. President Professor Zhu Yixing, . President of SICFL,was invited to be Education Chief of International Information Communication Association. SICFL was awarded the Prize for its excellent organization. Ms.Zhang Wei and Ms. Xue Lili were offered the honor of “Excellent Instructors”.The participating group from Department of Literary Study and Legal Affairs was presented with the Prize of Excellent Group and Gu Yingjie, a student from Department of Literary Study & Legal Affairs was awarded the “Excellent Prize”.
More than 120 teachers and students from the Department took an active part in the competition. All the volunteers worked well, which fully shows that the Department of Literary Study & Legal Affairs is striving forward and thestudents are displaying their strong sense of vocational skills.
The Department of Literary Study & Legal Affairs has explored a new approach with which to enhance the quality of teaching through competition and to facilitate learning by means of competition, all of which will aim at improvingthe vocational capabilities of the students in the Program of Secretary,accelerating the selection and training of secretaries and steno talents and promoting the communications among institutions of higher learning. Compared with the last competition of the same type, this one has drawn much more participants to compete and much more overseas friends came for observation, both of which have fully shown that SICFL and even Shanghai as whole has made significant progress in the development of Key Programs included in 12th five-year-long plan and exerted important impact in the country and in the international community as well.
