Chen Weiwen, Associate Professor, wasgraduated from The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Military EngineeringInstitute, which was widely referred to as “Ha Jun Gong” and is now known asHerbin Institute of Technology. Professor Chen is Dean of the Department ofElectromechanical Engineering & Information Technology. By adhering theconcept of technical & vocational education, Mr. Chen has been leading theteam in the Department in its continuous reform concerning the programs of “NumericalControl”, “Electromechanical Engineering,” “Computer Technology,” which hasachieved great success. By taking the training of “Gray Collar Workers” as itsdirection for the cultivation of students, the Department has been sustainingits efforts in the collaboration between the school and enterprises. It hasgathered a great deal of experience in enabling its students to obtain twotechnical certificates at high levels and has set a good example in itsexplorative endeavor with regard to the close cooperation with the Departmentof German, giving the students in the Department to learn some basic German soas to make them become more competitive. In 2009, the Department got the Third Prizefor Teaching Award at the Municipal Level. In 2010, Professor Chen wasnominated by Shanghai Association of Technical & Vocational Education asMaster Teacher in Technical & Vocational Education. In 2013, the Departmentwas privileged to have been selected as the “Outstanding Teaching Unit at theMunicipal Level”. For years, the Department has been winning many Gold Medals,Silver Medals, First Prizes” in succession in the competitions and contestsheld by Pudong New Area and by Shanghai Municipal Educational Commission, thuswinning much honor for SICFL. Professor Chen has been making persevering effortsin the staff development. Till now, three teachers from the Numerical ControlPractical Training Teaching & Research Group have got the certificates ofSenior Numerical Control Technician.
