Professor Xu Zhong was graduated from Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade ( now referredto as Shanghai University of International Business & Economics) in 1967.From the year of 1985 to 1986, he was a visiting scholar in Brigham YoungUniversity, U.S.A., majoring in linguistics. From January to August of 1996, hewas a senior visiting scholar in City University of New York, U.S.A. From 1983,he was Associate Dean of Department of Foreign Languages Shenyang NormalUniversity and later the Dean. His concurrent posts included “Vice Chairman ofTranslators’ Association, Liaoning Province, Managing Director of CollegeForeign Language Education Research Society, Liaoning Province, ManagingDirector and Deputy Secretary General of Association of Foreign Language &Science & Technology, Shenyang City. From 1988, he began to teach inShanghai University and from 1992, he has been Full Professor of English. Hewas Associate Dean of the College of Foreign Languages, Shanghai University, beingin charge of the work of the College, leader of English Discipline, supervisorof English M.A. candidates, member of Academic Degree Committee, Member ofAcademic Board, Member of Senior Professional Titles Evaluation Committee,Shanghai University and Review Expert through Correspondence for the ResearchProjects of Liberal Arts at the National Level. Now he is Vice President ofSenior Professor Association, Shanghai University.
