Professor Zhu Shichang was graduated from the Department of Foreign Languages, Fu DanUniversity. He attended “Fulbright Program” which was jointly sponsored byChina and U.S.A. at Shanghai Foreign Language Institute (now known as ShanghaiInternational Studies University) from September of 1982 to July of 1983，”TATraining Program for Tertiary Schools in East China Region” which was jointly runby China and U.K. at Shanghai Jiao Tong University from September of 1985 toJuly, 1986, and studied in the Department of Linguistics, University of Sydney,Australia from April, 1988 to March, 1990 and got M. A. Degree there. From1997，hehas been Full Professor of English. He was Associate Dean of the Department ofForeign Languages, East China University of Science & Technology and Headof Supervisor Group for M.A. Program, Dean of the Department of ForeignLanguages of Shanghai Institute of Technology, Director of Department ofInternational Cooperation, Shanghai Institute of Technology. Currently, he isVice President and Dean of English Department of Shanghai Industry &Commerce Foreign Language College and Director of Shanghai Foreign LanguageAssociation. He won the award of “Special Allowance by State Council (China’sCabinet), “Shanghai Outstanding Educator” and “Bao Steel Excellent TeacherAward”. In July, 2012, Both Royal Road University and Thompson RiversUniversities, Canada awarded him Brass Plate in recognizing his outstandingcontribution to promoting the international cooperation among Sino-Canadianinstitutions of higher learning. He published over 30 papers and compiled 6textbooks. His field of research lies in “Systemic Functional Linguistics,Discourse Analysis, Pragmatics and Intercultural Communication”. He has beenteaching the courses of “Advanced English Reading, Advanced English Writing,Advanced Bilingual Interpretation, Linguistics, Discourse Analysis, Stylistics,Intercultural Communication” and has been well received by his students.
