On September 26, 2014, the Department of Spanish had a meeting which waspresided over by Dean of the Department, Professor Chen Kaixian.

At the meeting, Professor Chen first of all introduced the major conceptof school’s Three-Year-Long Plan, pointing out that the Department of Spanishshould follow the directions of the Plan and continue to make the reform by takinginto full account the concrete situation of the Department. By referring to thework for the semester, Professor Chen emphasizes the following points: first ofall, the whole Department should make every effort to help students to find ajob in which they can apply to the fullest extent what they have learned.Moreover, the Department should, as usual, sustain its endeavor to bring intoplay the function of “Spanish Corner” hosted and organized by the Students’Union and Community so as to make it become a special platform where theSpanish culture can be spread to whoever is interested in. Finally, theDepartment should pay every attention to cultivate the elites among thestudents, through whom we will cultivate an ideal learning atmosphere in theDepartment. On the other hand, the Department will exert itself to help youngteachers to develop themselves academically so as to form an excellent team ofSpanish teachers.

Later, all the teachers and staff members of the Department had ananimated discussion based on Professor Chen’s speech and they all expressedtheir determination that they would make the concerted efforts to comply withthe general requirements of the Plan and strive to achieve greater success inthe reform and to cultivate more talented students in the days to come.(Contributed by the Department of Spanish)
